Winter is here, but this can also mean the birds in our local area are going hungry as seeds and flowers are hiding from the cold.

We have a quick and easy way to make bird feeders, with ingredients most people have in the cupboard.

  • What you will need?
  • Good quality bird seed
  • Raisins
  • Peanuts
  • Grated cheese
  • Suet or lard
  • Yoghurt pots/old bottle cut in half
  • String
  • Mixing bowl
  • Scissors

Mix all the food ingredients together in the mixing bowl, you may have to melt your lard or suet on the hob if it is hard.

Add the mixture into the old yogurt pot or the bottle. And poke holes to add the string, cutting the string to your preferred length.

Hang up in the feeder in your garden and enjoy watching the local birds having their breakfast.
